A Christmas miracle for this PSG target

A key player for PSG in his early years in Qatar, Thiago Motta has been involved with the club since the end of his soccer career. After a successful spell on the bench of the Parisian reserves in the 2018-2019 season, he has since honed his coaching skills back home, taking charge of Genoa, La Spezia and, now, Bologna, where he has shone since September 2022.

In 15 months under his management, this former mastodon of Italian soccer, seven-time Italian champion (1925, 1929, 1936, 1937, 1939, 1941, 1964), has re my work, says the man whose contract expires next June, and who is still being closely watched by a number of clubs – PSG in particular. There’s no secret, no magic, just hard work and clear ideas. The Bologna he has built since last season is a solid, determined and pugnacious outfit, with its own identity and style of play, capable of upsetting the big boys of Serie A, such as Inter, who were recently beaten by him in the Italian Cup.

Virtually qualified for the next edition of the Champions League by virtue of its fourth position, Bologna has not risen above ninth place in the final Italian standings since its return to the top flight in 2015 – already so far.
