Where will we be watching Ligue 1 in the years to come? The LFP is looking for new broadcasters for the period 2024-2029, and this is currently a difficult task for president Vincent Labrune. The first stage of the call for tenders ended in failure, as no proposals were made, and it’s now time for private discussions between the LFP and the various suitors.

Canal+, the historic broadcaster of the French championship, is angry with the Ligue, and no longer wants to broadcast L1. Credible candidates now include DAZN, beIN Sports and Amazon. But there’s another playerL’Equipe would not be able to afford any of the prizes offered by the LFP. However, Jérôme Saporito, the channel’s director, imagines a partnership with the future broadcaster of Ligue 1, to offer certain matches in the championship to as many eyes as possible.

Four times a year, as a special event, this could be a good way of putting the spotlight back on a championship watched by, a priori, 1 to 1.5 million viewers. Not necessarily to broadcast PSG-OM, but a Lens-Marseille, an opening match, or a match on day 17, imagines Jérôme Saporito.
