When Daniel Riolo spoke of the rape allegations made against Wissam Ben Yedder last August, he reminded everyone that an indictment was not synonymous with guilt, admitting that he himself was under investigation for defamation, without giving any further details of the investigation he was the subject of. The RMC journalist was, in fact, being sued by Neymar.

On Monday evening, the star of After Foot explained that he had escaped conviction a year and a half after Neymar lodged a complaint against him. Riolo, who has regularly been taken to court for his on-air accusations (he is currently being sued by Didier Deschamps and Christophe Galtier), who spoke about the nightlife of the Brazilian prodigy who joined PSG, found the expression very stressful this time, as the opposing party was asking for lots and lots of money. Such a fine would have been quite painful.

The 53-year-old journalist thus took the stand before the judge to demonstrate that his comments about Neymar were proven and well-founded. The court found that the file provided by Daniel Riolo demonstrated that Neymar’s difficulties in his sporting life were the result of a lifestyle he had chosen to adopt. Even outside his periods of convalescence, the former Blue and Red No.10 spent his nights playing poker or watching Brazilian telenovelas.
