France’s number 1 sports media outlet, L’Equipe clearly re-launched the rumor of OM’s sale to Saudi Arabia on November 15. Many internal sources are talking about an unavoidable process for the sale of Marseille by owner Frank McCourt, whose distance from the club is becoming ever more apparent. It’s an observation that has intrigued Ciel et Blanc fans, who for the past two years have torn themselves apart over information never corroborated by independent journalist Thibaut Vezirian.

The reality, however, is quite different. The English journalistwill not take on two clubs likely to play in the Champions League.

McCourt too greedy!

In short, OM does not appear to be on the verge of being bought by the PIF (the Saudi sovereign wealth fund which bought the Magpies a year ago), and Zinedine Zidane will not be coming to coach a team turned upside down by the forthcoming winter mercato. As Florent Germain, RMC’s correspondent in Marseille, recently reported, Franck McCourt denies an imminent sale and continues to have confidence in Pablo Longoria, to whom he has given full powers.

Ben Jacobs has further information, stating that the current owner (of OM) wants to waiting for 600 or 700 million euros to sell it.
