There should only be one question from the field referee to the TMO: is there a try or not?. Video should not be used elsewhere. And then, the coaches in the stadiums, a lot of passion, the energy displayed by Portugal or Chile…. But refereeing has taken on too much importance, and the New Zealand technician is calling for an overhaul of the system.

The time when the referee controlled the match is now behind us, he laments.
